Facilities

The Department has a well-equipped undergraduate wet laboratory and different research labs. Theoretical chemists of the Department had designed and set up the High-performance Computing (HPC) Clusters at the Department of Chemistry and  IIT Tirupati. Many high-end experimental research instruments are available as follows.

Sophisticated Instruments

1. The Bruker AVANCE NEO 400 MHz NMR SPECTROMETER:

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is one of the most advanced and accurate analytical techniques. Using NMR spectroscopy, one can elucidate the molecular structure of a newly synthesized molecule or material. The Bruker AVANCE NEO 400 MHz NMR Spectrometer our department has an autosampler with 60 samples at a time and accessories for monitoring reaction kinetics. This instrument can be used to analyze a molecule containing 1H, 13C, 31P, 19F, and 31P-109Ag nuclei. Measurements can also be done in a wide range of temperatures between – 120 °C to 100 °C.

2. LCMS 6546 LC Q-TOF (Agilent)

Liquid Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) QToF is a powerful analytical technique used for the separation, identification, and quantification of both unknown and known compounds as well as to elucidate the High-resolution Mass of different organic, inorganic and polymer compounds.recently installed

3. GCMS 8890 GC SYSTEM (Agilent)

The Gas Chromatography (GC-MS) instrument separates chemical mixtures (The GC Component) and identifies the components at a molecular level. It is one of the most accurate tools for analyzing environmental samples.

4.990 MICRO GC(Agilent)

It serves many different industrial gas analysis applications including natural gas calorific value, composition, and odorants, refinery gas composition, and trace contaminants (low ppm) in industrial gas.

5. Prolab GB II

A glove box is a sealed container used to manipulate materials where an inert atmosphere is desired. They are commonly used to protect chemicals and materials that may be sensitive to air or moisture. Glove boxes may be used under either positive or negative pressure.

6. High performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) WATERS-e 2695 separations module

High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), formerly referred to as high pressure liquid chromatography, is a technique in analytical chemistry used to separate, identify, and quantify specific components in mixtures.

7. Preparative HPLC1260 INFINITY II (Agilent)

Preparative HPLC Systems. HPLC is used to separate and refine high-purity target compounds from a mixture solution after a synthesis reaction or from natural extracts.

8. TGA-8000 EQUIPMENT(Perkin elmer)

To determine a material’s thermal stability and its fraction of volatile components by monitoring the weight change that occurs as a sample is heated at a constant rate.

9. FT-IR SPECTROMETER SPECTRUM TWO(Perkin elmer)

Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy – Attenuated total reflectance (FTIR–ATR) provides information related to the presence or absence of specific functional groups, as well as the chemical structure of polymer materials.

10. UV-3600PLUS (UV-VIS-NIR SPECTROPHOTOMETER)

A highly sensitive UV-VIS-NIR spectrometer that ranges from 190 – 3300 nm gives the absorption and diffuse reflectance spectra of liquid/powder/thin film samples.

11. FLUORESCENCE MICRO SCOPE NIKON-Ti2e

Measurement of fluorescence in the cell lines.

12. Lyophilizer-lark penguin classic

Freeze drying of samples at -80°c

13. CO2 INCUBATOR

CO2 incubators are enclosures designed to precisely control the environment needed to grow biological or cell cultures.

14. Fluorescence-Spectrophotometer FL-6500(PERKIN ELMER)

This instrument is used to measure the light emission from any materials (solid or liquid) on excitation. Both qualitative and quantitative measurement is possible at various temperatures. Notable measurements are quantum yield, quenching, sensing, etc.

15. MULTI MODE MICROPLATE READER

Multimode microplate reader: This instrument is used for high-throughput measurement of absorption and luminescence using 6, 12, 24, 48 and 96 well-plates. For example, single point or fluorescence spectra of 96 samples can be measured at a go.

16. UV-1900i UV-VISIBLE SPECTROPHOTOMETR

UV-Vis Spectroscopy is a quantitative technique used to measure how much a chemical substance absorbs light. This is done by measuring the intensity of light that passes through a sample with respect to the intensity of light through a reference sample or blank.

17. CENTRIFUGE 5810R

This instrument is used for separating a mixture of material by centrifugal force. For example, separating any precipitate from the mixture of precipitate and the solvent.

18. BIO SAFETY CABINET

This cabinet is used for conducting any experiment involving biological samples and are susceptible to external contamination. For example mammalian cell culture.
