M.Sc Program
M.Sc. in Chemistry started in July 2020 offers a two-year degree program that enables students to explore and gain both fundamental and applied knowledge in the vast and diverse areas of chemical sciences. This helps the students to get trained with a range of flavours of both experimental and theoretical chemistry. The program has attracted young talents and bright minds from different corners of our country. At present, the department has a capacity to accommodate at maximum 15 students in each year. The department heartily welcomes all students for exploring different flavours of chemistry offered through this program and always encourages them to utilise all the opportunities in full. The entire chemistry fraternity wishes them a great learning and also a bright future.
The M.Sc. program has been judiciously designed taking into consideration the current trends and demands both in industry and academia, and also maintaining international learning standards. The entire program is divided into four semesters with a total academic credit of 76. While both theory subjects and closely associated experiments have been nicely mapped in each semester, a significant break-through has been given in the final two semesters, where students are engaged to explore and learn how to think and solve potential industrial and or research problems through a proactive project-mode. Importantly, solving problems by implementing algorithms through a computer programming language students get an opportunity to make themselves comfortable for taking any tasks associated with the software and information technology. In addition, flexibility has also been given to all the students for choosing the elective courses from a basket of several specialized and advanced courses across the institute. Furthermore, the current trends and the advances in chemical sciences and also the research activities both at IIT Tirupati and also at internationally reputed institutes across the globe are showcased via key presentations in a regular and timely manner. Towards this, the department has launched two unique programs: Chemistry beyond Classroom: Research Endeavours at IIT Tirupati and also Connecting to Great Minds. The program has received very positive feedback and also overwhelming responses from both students and faculties.
Through the quality teaching and also via rigorous and critical training the M.Sc. program provides an unprecedented and dimensionless platform where students can learn and enrich themselves with knowledge from both the basic and the applied chemical sciences. Students develop critical thinking skills and gain problem solving aptitudes for practical applications. All students are also potentially trained through this program to professionally undertake any industrial assignments and or research problems in academia and or research and development sectors for serving and meeting societal needs, and thereby join together for nation building.
